About us

We are a community based co-operative business. We actively promote more local ownership of renewable energy creating benefits for the local community.

In 2015 an Energy Working Group of Transition Kerry became Kerry Sustainable Energy Co-operative Society Limited (KSEC). This was to take advantage of grants available from the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), and help bring Kerry towards a renewable energy future.

Later, we, as KSEC, registered to become a Sustainable Energy Community (SEC) of SEAI, and completed an Energy Master Plan of Killorglin in 2023.

We are founded on the belief that the most effective projects are community-owned and led, and that we all benefit when everyone is secure in their energy supply.

How we achieve our goals

  1. Building electricity generation projects at different scales, wholly and partially owned by our members
  2. Creating an empowering network among our members to facilitate knowledge and know-how sharing, and to ease access to grants and funding
  3. Forging partnerships and collaboration with businesses, the public sector and other communities across the country

Who we are

Living in all parts of Kerry and from all walks of life, we are a group of volunteers passionate about keeping Kerry a great place to live sustainably.

Everyone is welcome to join and take part in building an energy secure future.
