SEC Get-Together 11 March March 16, 2026 Uncategorized Kerry SECs had a ‘get together’ before the public Home Energy Upgrade Event and KSEC was delighted to meet people from Dunquin, Sneem, Kenmare, Dingle, Ballybunion, Comhchoiste Ghaeltact Uibh Ráthaigh and elsewhere. This event was chaired by Catriona Fallon, SEC Mentor with the SEAI at the Dingle Hub and held in The Killarney Avenue Hotel. We heard about nine Energy Master Plans (EMP) underway or completed from those present. One common challenge was that of engaging the local communities, so the role of volunteers is vital. Deirdre de Bhailís, SEC Mentor and Manager of the Dingle Hub, presented on a number of possible actions for SECs including meitheals and very interesting information on reducing energy use for hot water by e.g. a device to restrict water flow in a shower. Kieran Lettice, an SEC Mentor in Cork, joined us online and gave further useful information on the success of solar meitheals in Cork and more.
