Community Climate Adaptation Programme Storm Chandra, our 3rd storm of the winter, has left much devastation, and it’s a stark reminder of our ongoing need to act to mitigate climate change. However, we also now need to adapt to the changes in climate that are with us. Are you interested in a training programme to help develop leaders in local communities to adapt to these changes? If so, the NEWKD-Transition Kerry Programme may be for you. To find out more, contact adaptationkerry@transitionkerry.org // www.adaptationkerry.transitionkerry.org SE Systems KSEC has applied to SE Systems for a Community Energy Grant. If successful, KSEC would receive €10,000 finance for a solar installation on a nominated community building. Field Trip It is hoped to organise a field trip for members in the near future. Brighter Kerry Community Solar Farm https://www.brighter.ie/ Well done to Brighter Kerry on the following development: “I am pleased to advise that we have recently been offered *SRESS 1 support for our Kilcummin Community Solar Farm by the Minister for Climate, Energy and Environment and we have accepted the offer. This scheme guarantees income of €140 per MWh for 15 years”. , Kerry Renewable Energy Community Stephen O’Sullivan, Secretary, Kerry Renewable Energy Community*Note: SRESS=Small -Scale Renewable Electricity Support Scheme. Thank you to Kevin O’Farrell Kevin O Farrell stepped down as chairperson and acting treasurer in September. The Board of KSEC has thanked Kevin for taking on the role of chairperson last April and later that of acting treasurer. Kevin steered KSEC with both expertise and good humour in both roles. His work included linking with the Friendly Societies, the auditor and chairing the meetings. He was part of the review of KSEC’s Energy Master Plan and the drawing up of its summary leaflet and the ‘looking back and forward’ process, or meitheal and more. We wish Kevin well for the future. This approach is one that would be easily replicated in other communities, including our own Kerry SECs, and might prove inspirational to KSEC.
